Terms of Service
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These terms cover buying and using Sotto, the voice-to-text app for macOS, and the website at sotto.to. By buying or using Sotto you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Sotto is made by George Kitanov (“Kitze”), a sole proprietor based in Skopje, North Macedonia. “We”, “us” and “our” mean Kitze; “you” means the person who bought or uses Sotto.
2. Your license
- Sotto is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Your license lets you use Sotto on up to 3 Macs that you own or control, and includes future updates.
- The license is personal. Don’t share, resell or publish your license key, and don’t use it to get around the device limit. For team licenses, see Sotto for teams.
- Don’t reverse engineer, redistribute or resell the app, except where the law allows it regardless of these terms.
- You can manage your license and activations in the license manager.
3. Payment
Purchases are processed by Polar, our merchant of record, which also handles sales tax and VAT and sends your receipt. The price is the one shown at checkout. If we change the price later, it doesn’t affect a license you already bought.
4. Refunds
If something is wrong with your purchase, email [email protected] from the email you used at checkout and we’ll sort it out. Approved refunds are issued through Polar. This doesn’t limit any refund rights you have under the consumer law of your country.
5. Optional cloud providers
Sotto works fully offline with its built-in local models. If you connect a cloud transcription or AI provider (for example OpenAI, Groq, Anthropic, Google Gemini, Mistral or OpenRouter), you do so with your own API key and account. Your use of that provider is governed by its terms, any usage fees are billed by that provider to you, and you are responsible for keeping your API keys safe. We are not responsible for third-party providers’ availability, pricing or handling of your data.
6. Using Sotto responsibly
- Speech recognition and AI output can be wrong. Review transcripts and AI-processed text before you rely on them, especially for medical, legal, financial or other important use.
- You are responsible for having the right to record and transcribe the audio you use with Sotto, including getting consent from other people where the law requires it.
- Assistant features that can act on your Mac, such as running shell commands, are off until you enable them, and you are responsible for what you let them do.
7. Updates and availability
We ship updates to fix bugs and add features, and features may change over time. Sotto needs macOS 13 or later. Activation and update checks use our licensing service at releaseflow.net.
8. Privacy
How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy.
9. No warranty
Sotto is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don’t promise it will be error-free or uninterrupted.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to Sotto is limited to the amount you paid us for Sotto in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, lost profits, or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited under applicable law.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of North Macedonia, and the courts of Skopje have jurisdiction, without taking away any mandatory consumer rights you have in your country of residence.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest change. If you keep using Sotto after a change, the new terms apply.
